We were both just eighteen inches tall in that beat up old wheelbarrow
Her name was Carla and we played Red Rover and we Care-bear stared those cars to come over
He was seventeen and his only dream was to go to some places that he’d never seen
And the world said don’t, but I packed his bags and said go
Your small apartment with your hide-a-bed was the perfect place to lay my head
We blew a tire just outside Quill Lake so we painted our nails on the back of the tail gate
You held my flowers and I held yours and we took to the trampoline with our swords
And we saw our hair go blond red black and blue
And snap, there goes another photograph
How’d I even get here
I couldn’t tell you now
Cause there’s so many things that are so unclear
All we were scared of is that it would end before we’d begun
So we said, turn around, take ten paces and run
Key chain is scratched but I never lost it ‘cause it spent ten years in my front pocket
Went back in time to find a lost what if just to see that it didn’t have all I had given it
I was seventeen and my only dream was to go to some places that I’d never seen
And the world said don’t, but I packed my bags and said go
And snap, there goes another photograph
How’d I even get here
I couldn’t tell you now
Cause there’s so many things that are so unclear
All we were scared of is that it would end before we’d begun
So we said, turn around, take ten paces and run
And I am standing here
Looking forward into a mirror
And I break into a million seven years
And you are here with me
Soaking wet from the ocean breeze
And I ask, can we stay here, please, please, please
And it went snap, there goes another photograph
How’d I even get here
I couldn’t tell you now
Cause there’s so many things that are so unclear
All we were scared of is that it would end before we’d begun
So we said turn around, take ten paces no…
This way I wanna see your face, yeah…
Turn around, take ten paces and run
